Updates and Rambles
I’m sitting here, about to stream, when I realized I should probably do some posting on my website. It’s been a while, with my last post really just being a story about a killer squirrel. Not the best way to leave something alone for three years. But I’m back, and I’m giving the whole keep-things-onilne thing a go again. What am I up to? What have I/am I, working on?
Mostly I’ve been trying to brainstorm how to start doing stuff online again, and in a way I won’t get burnt out from not doing what I want, and also in a way that’s fairly painless. For myself to use and schedule, and also as viewers and consumers of content. So far I haven’t come up with too much to help, except by keeping things pretty darned simple with the platform outreach. Just gonna stick to the website and Twitch for just a while longer until I get the rhythm of getting content out again, and then grow out to YouTube and other forms as it seems appropriate.
As far as what I’ve actually been doing, well, I’m a janitor mostly by trade. Industrial cleaning with a side of stage crew here and there- for both a local union and a community theater. Recently with the stuff going on with the virus I don’t really have much to do aside from do stuff at home. I help my parents with the chores round the house and try to find ways to keep myself entertained when I escape from the work. I’ve been doing things like making sure my computer doesn’t crash again (my computer setups follow the trend of coffee mugs in the space story I wrote a few years ago, just like two posts away though), trying to find a good streaming setup (which hasn’t been working for Minecraft but everything else works right), and trying to find all the nifty little ways to make myself feel a little more like Iron Man. Maybe one day I’ll do a video or blog post on what I mean by the Iron Man thing. The short immediate part of it is just doing small coding projects to potentially make life a little easier.
Below I’ll write up a short list of projects that are currently on the back burners of my mind. As I start to work on them more I’ll add links to them. The posts about the specific projects are both for you guys in case you want to make the same thing yourselves, but also for myself in case I forget something I need to know for a later project- so I have a good backup. I hope you guys enjoy!
Coding/Tech
Auto Receipt Organizer (probably Python based with some sort of image detection)
^That one will be some sort of script that will open up a camera, it scans the receipt you display in front of it, and can organize the contents of the receipt into a spreadsheet. It may be easier (at least for me at the beginning) to write it as individual scripts that do each function separetly
Raspberry Pi
^Really mostly just want my hands on a Raspberry Pi to do a bunch of nifty little things like a DIY NAS, all the way to some sort of smart glasses thing. The possibilities are only as endless as my physical skills with that sort of thing.
Music
The biggest thing I want to do with music is be able to professionally produce anything I decide to record that day. Sounds pretty vague, I’ll do better to hone it into something more conceivable, even by my future self, as time goes on. I do know dream tools I hope to have include a sound board that can interface with a computer really easily, as well as a loop pedal. Really not sure if I have a preference on the type of loop pedal either. Just been obsessed with thinking about them for a while now.
Misc
I have an idea for a bag thing. Like a cross between a drop leg bag you can get on Amazon or Wish and a harness similar to Lara Croft’s in Tomb Raider. Just a harness that you can expand with a backpack and other accessories, or just keep it as a basic small utility belt. Only carry what you need in a convenient way. I do need to work on drawings for it, and I know the person to go to who may be able to help me out a little bit with it.
I really don’t know what else to say in closing. I’m trying to get a good schedule going for streaming, and I’m sure I’ll be making a post dedicated to streaming here soon. And I’ll also be looking for easy ways for me to post to multiple platforms so I won’t have to take too long doing things like copying and pasting posts from one place to another.
